C-Reactive Protein

Diet

  1. Decrease refined carbohydrates
  2. Decrease saturated fat and trans-fats. Lowering trans-fats and cholesterol in the diet has been shown to decrease CRP by 39%
  3. Eat as many raw vegetables as possible. A diet high in whole, vegetarian foods has been shown to decrease CRP by 28%
  4. Eat cholesterol-friendly foods such as: almonds, soy protein, plant sterols and foods high in soluble fiber. Eating these foods lowered CRP nearly as well as statin medications.

Lifestyle

  1. Exercise is very important, blend strength training and aerobic activity for best result.
  2. Control stress as this can cause inflammation throughout the body.
  3. Brush and Floss. The bacteria that causes gum disease can also trigger inflammation in the blood vessels.

Supplements

  1. Pure Encapulations Krill Oil - 3 Capsules daily. Krill oil appears to be significantly better than fish oil for controlling CRP.
  2. Coenzyme Q10 - 100 mg Softgel Twice Daily
  3. PGX Fiber - 4 capsules or 1 Packet with each main meal. This can help to lower the glycemic index of food which can decrease CRP.
  4. Unique E - 400 IU one to two days daily. Vitamin E may work best when taken along with coenzyme Q10.
  5. L-Carnitine 500 mg three times daily.
