Health Protocols

Polycystic Ovary Disease

Diet

  1. Decrease refined carbohydrates. Carbohydrates can cause insulin resistance which negatively impact hormones. When hormones are out of balance estrogen can dominate and trigger abnormal cellular growth.
  2. Eat foods that promote liver detoxification, these include: cabbage-family, beets, carrots, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, onions, lemons and artichokes. These compounds enhance estrogen metabolism. Cut unhealthy fats such as fried foods, foods high in trans-fatty acids and saturated fats.
  3. Soy and flax compounds can help mitigate the effects of estrogen.
  4. Cut out caffeine, alcohol & dairy.

Lifestyle

  1. Exercise aerobically. Aerobic exercise helps to detox the body and improve insulin sensitivity.
  2. Avoid exposure to chemicals that interfere with liver function.
  3. Limit exposure to pesticides and plastics.
